Katonah's Local Exterior Painters Since 2003

Katonah has one of the most well-preserved 19th-century village centers in Westchester County. The village historic district has homes from the late 1800s that were carefully relocated when the Cross River Reservoir was built — and they've been maintained meticulously since. Outside the village, the country estates along Cherry Street, Cantitoe Street, and the wooded properties toward Bedford Hills offer substantial scale with detailed period architecture.

Our crew comes over from Bethel CT, about a 30-minute drive. We're EPA RRP certified for pre-1978 homes (and most Katonah village homes qualify), and we're properly registered for New York state work.

Katonah homeowners tend to appreciate craftsmanship and patience. We deliver both.

Katonah Architecture & Local Conditions

Every Katonah project starts with understanding the home's specific situation. Here's what we look for and how we address it.

Katonah architecture we paint

  • Katonah Village historic district — late 1800s homes, careful preservation
  • Cherry Street / Cantitoe Street — country estates, wooded lots
  • Mount Holly / Whitlockville — historic homes, country roads
  • Katonah-Bedford Hills — newer family homes

Local conditions that matter

  • Pre-1978 historic homes — lead-paint protocols required
  • Antique clapboard preservation — gentle prep approach
  • Wooded estate access — long driveways, landscape protection
  • Period-correct color & finish — historic district sensitivities

Our 6-Step Prep Protocol — Why Our Work Lasts

Paint failure isn't usually a paint problem — it's a prep problem. Here's exactly what we do on every Katonah exterior project, written into your contract.

  1. Soft-wash the entire exterior. Removes mildew, pollen, oxidation, chalking, and tree sap from siding and trim. Skipping this is the #1 reason cheap paint jobs fail.
  2. Hand-scrape every loose or failing area. Edges feathered with sanding so the new paint lays flat instead of in visible ridges.
  3. Replace any rotted wood. Trim, fascia, soffits, or siding boards with rot get replaced like-for-like. We don't paint over rot.
  4. Spot-prime every bare-wood and bare-substrate area. High-adhesion primer (oil-based on raw wood when needed) before any topcoat.
  5. Caulk every gap. Window frames, door frames, corner boards, siding-to-trim seams. Premium polyurethane sealant, not painter's caulk.
  6. Two full coats of premium paint. Brush and roller for proper film thickness. Back-brushing on rough surfaces. Premium acrylic only.

At the end, we do a written walk-through with you. Anything you flag gets touched up the same day before we call it done.
